Identify where rats naturally bunch together before you spend tower resources.
Rat Swarm
Rat Swarm is the PvE tower-defense pressure test of Last Asylum: Plague. You win by preparation: focused towers, correct hero roles, and enough burst to survive the Rat King phase.
Waves of infected rats follow fixed paths toward the Sanctuary. Players build and upgrade towers, deploy up to five heroes, then survive until the final boss wave: the Rat King.
Identify where rats naturally bunch together before you spend tower resources.
One strong kill zone usually beats weak towers scattered across every lane.
Tank in front, damage behind, support where it keeps the core alive.
Manual ability timing matters most when the Rat King enters the lane.
| Priority | Tower role | Placement | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Slow / control | Choke entrance | Gives every damage tower more time per enemy. |
| 2 | Area damage | Behind slow towers | Clears regular waves and chips the Rat King while enemies are grouped. |
| 3 | Single-target damage | Boss-focused lane | Useful for the Rat King, but lower priority until the choke is strong. |
If the last normal wave barely clears, the boss attempt usually wastes materials. Upgrade the core hero group, strengthen the primary choke point, and try again once pre-boss waves clear with margin.
| Role | Examples mentioned in guides | Why this role matters |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Arthur, Daskal, Shadow, Brian, Louis, Billy | Keeps the team alive through longer waves and boss pressure. |
| Main DPS | Marlena, Zoya, Annie, Jester, Red Lady, Cynthia | Provides the burst or wave damage needed to finish high-health targets. |
| Support | Harper, Nicole, Bell | Improves team damage, healing, or survivability during longer fights. |
| Flex | Second tank, extra carry, or support | Choose based on whether regular waves, boss burst, or frontline collapse blocks progress. |
